Task 3 : Development & Design
INSTRUCTIONS
PRACTICAL
Week 6
Following the completion of the visual analysis in Task 2, we are now tasked to proceed
to create a design based on the concept proposed in Task 2. Throughout the
development process and in the final design, we will have incorporate our
understanding of design principles.
・Chosen Sketch :
After showing all the sketches to Ms. Jinchi, we ultimately came to a conclusion to pick
sketch #3 due to the symbolism it has and it reflects the most on The Last Supper.
・Expanding the Sketch :
First, I went to google to find some PNGs of eyes. The pupils of Jesus' disciples are
currently blank because I wanted to fill them in another app (AmberDraw), making it
like a gif.
Remembering Ms. Jinchi's feedback from the previous week, I decided to look for more
posters just like 'THE LOVERS'.

By making it like a poster from Figure 2.3, I wondered what I could put onto the blank
spaces. That's when I decided to google up what Jesus said to Judas after the whole
ordeal.
When Judas betrayed Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane by kissing him, Jesus calmly
said, "Friend, do what you came for" (Matthew 26:50). This shows that Jesus knew
what was happening and accepted it. Even though Judas was betraying him, Jesus still
called him "friend," which adds a sense of sadness and kindness to the moment. Jesus's
calm response shows that he understood this was meant to happen and that he
remained focused on his purpose, even when faced with betrayal.
(Taken from Google's AI overview and reworded in my understanding)
Therefore, that's why the poster in Figure 2.3 was chosen, so that the poster had
enough space for the quote "Friend, do what you came for".

Figure 2.5 Final Outcome of Development Poster |
Using the app AmberDraw, I drew out the pupils on my Ipad.
・Outcome after Feedback :
After receiving feedback from Ms. Jinchi, I got to work immediately, trying to improve
the poster from the feedback she's given me. I made the poster into A4 size and I made
sure to find PNG of eyes that actually look like eyes this time.
I then returned the gold colour to the crosses in Jesus' eyes while also adding a slight
glow to it, to signify his divinity.
The top of the poster felt empty to me after switching places with the quote from Jesus,
so I decided to add Leonardo da Vinci's name to specify even more that this poster was
inspired by The Last Supper.

I created two versions as I couldn't decide what looked better.

・Final Outcome :
After receiving feedback from Miss Jinchi, she advised me to use the version 2 poster
and also to pull the text The Last Supper down slightly as there's too much space
between that and the Leonardo da Vinci text.
FEEDBACK
Week 6
- Specify the reason why I decided to make it like a poster in Figure 2.3
- The disciples' eyes don't really look like eyes
- Typeface that is used in the poster is suitable
- The text for The Last Supper and "Friend do what you came for" should be swapped since more emphasis should be on The Last Supper
- Can try to make the quote in a smaller font size and centralised
- Can try putting some colours
Week 7
- Much improvement from the previous poster
- There's too much space between the text The Last Supper and Leonardo da Vinci, should pull the text The Last Supper downwards slightly
- No further edits needed
