Task 4 : Self-Titled

Instructions

Task 4

For this final project: Self-Titled, it involves combining the tasks from three distinct
             modules.
    • Weave a related motive (IVN) through the font and self-portrait. This motive should convey a narrative or theme that reflects your personal or artistic identity.
    • Experiment with typography and layout to integrate the motive seamlessly with your font and self-portrait.
    • Ensure the visual narrative created supports the overall message of your poster.
Furthermore, I'll be combining the knowledge and skills gained from Typography
Illustration & Visual Narrative, and Digital Photography & Imaging. My aim is to craft
an integrated poster showcasing proficiency in each area. I'll be utilizing a custom font
I've created (Typo), blending in a self-portrait (DPI), and threading a related motif
(IVN) throughout the font and image. The objective is to produce a visually striking
poster that not only reflects technical prowess but also embodies a rich conceptual
             narrative.

For my self-portrait, I won't be going for the usual photograph. I want it to mirror who I
am, capturing my personality, interests, and imagination in a truly creative and artistic
way. This isn't just about a face; it's about expressing myself through a lens that goes
beyond the conventional. I aim to weave together elements that define me, creating a
visual representation that's both personal and imaginative. This self-portrait is a unique
opportunity to let one's creativity shine and offer viewers a glimpse into the essence of
             who they are.

Part 1 (Idea Development)
Continuing with the same theme and idea for DPI for this task, I want to make the
design for this poster like an actual poster for my life, bringing importance to the fact
that music is a big part of my life.

Part 2 (Design Development)
           Ideas & Sketches:

Figure 2.1 Sketch

The quote, ‘Silent Tones Ignite the Night’ conveys the idea that music, even when gentle
or subdued, has the ability to ignite emotions and create a memorable experience,
particularly in the calm and stillness of the night.

           Poster Designing in Photoshop:

Figure 2.4 Before & After Masking

As the theme I'm going for in this poster will be the same as DPI's, I'll be reusing the
same background colour and colouring. Referencing my sketch and moodboard, I first
use the Rectangle Tool to draw a rectangle in the middle of the poster.

Figure 2.6 Brightness & Curves

I found a Paper Texture on Pinterest which I thought would fit into the aesthetic of the
poster. I then proceed to use the Pen Tool to draw a rough outline of the portrait of
myself then pasted the Paper Texture over the outline to mask it. Before moving onto
the next step, I added a Drop Shadow onto the now Paper Outline to make it look like
it's popping out of the rectangle.

After feeling satisfied with the main image, I then went to add the quote 'Silent Tones
Ignite in the Night' into the poster. While looking at it, I realised that you could hardly
see the whole quote so I decided to add a smaller text of the same quote onto the face of
             my portrait.

Figure 2.9 Poster with Text

To make the text have the bend I want, I had to transform it with Distort, Perspective
and Wrap. This part was honestly trial and error until I was satisfied with the
placement of the text. It took me quite a long time to achieve the placement I desired
but in the end, I am satisfied and happy with the way it turned out.

I didn't like how much Negative Space my poster had so I decided to use another image
I had use on DPI's project to add into the background of this poster after watching a
            Youtube Video.

After watching that, I begin to try it on my own image. Following the Youtube Video
step by step and finally switching the black and white colour into pink and white to
             match the poster.

It honestly doesn't look like much, but I feel like it definitely helped with minimising
the Negative Space it had before.

Figure 2.15 Added Vectors

Reusing the music note vectors and the ribbons I had drew on Illustrator, I added it
onto the poster and it slowly looked complete.

Figure 2.16 Drawn on Effects

Using the Pencil Tool, I drew on lines below the headphones as makeshift wires coming
from the headphones and the halo to signify the calmness felt while listening to music.

Figure 2.17 Texture

The final touch to make this poster complete was this texture I found once again on
Pinterest. This texture in my opinion really makes my poster come together and it
makes my poster truly look like it's a real poster on a wall somewhere.
