Task 1 : Proposal Development
INSTRUCTIONS
PROPOSAL DEVELOPMENT
In our last year of school, we're starting a big
project that helps us use what we've
learned
in class to solve real problems. We'll pick a topic we're interested in,
come up
with a
plan to tackle it, and manage our work on our own. We'll learn from
videos, case
studies,
and talks with experts, plus have meetings with our teachers. Everything
we do
will be tracked online. This project is our chance to show off our skills
in design and
planning, and prove we're ready for real jobs. It's like a practice run
for the work we'll
do after we graduate, mixing what we know from books with hands-on
experience.
Week 1 (Topic Discussion)
In the first week, we were told to form groups of 4
based on our specialisations. Moving
forward from that, Ms. Vitiyaa briefed us on what's needed to be
done for Task 1.
During my group discussions with my group
members, we came up with several ideas
for the project:
- Bread Company
- Packaging Design
- Albums / Seasons Greetings
- Good Vibes Festival (Redesigned)
During our feedback, Ms. Anis recommended us to find
out what each of our specialty
in
Graphic Design that could make it easier for us to divide the tasks
between us. And
after
much consideration and discussion with Ms. Anis and my team members,
we
decided to proceed with Good Vibes Festival (Redesigned) as our
topic for Task 1.

Week 2 (Proposal Slides Preparation)
Figure 2.1 Proposal Guidelines
In week 2, Ms. Vitiyaa gave us another briefing on how we
should proceed on making
our presentation slides for the next week. After reading through
everything, we
proceeded to make our slides on Canva.
Below are our final SWOT analysis on Good Vibes and
other existing festivals in
Malaysia.

After gathering all the information we needed for the
slides, we then proceeded
compiling
everything into our presentation while trying to make it short and
readable
for our audience and also Ms. Vitiyaa. We focused on highlighting
key points, using
bullet
points and visuals to keep the slides engaging. Additionally, we ensured
that the
design was
clean and professional, with a consistent color scheme and font style
while
also
maintaining a logical flow of information. We carefully selected
relevant images
and concise
text to avoid overwhelming our audience.

Week 3 to 4
On week 3, we are to present our proposal slides
to our fellow peers and Ms.
Vitiyaa. This presentation will allow us to showcase our
plan on redefining Good Vibes
Festival, receive feedback and refine our content based on
constructive criticism to
enhance our proposal further.

After finishing the presentation, we decided to
discuss our initial sketches and also the
survey questionnaire.
Below is our finished survey questionnaire.
Week 5
This week, we just had to sketch out some
ideas, my part was the cap, socks and finally
stickers. The stickers I had already done initially
but it was better to refine it and add
more variations to the stickers I had submitted.
Below are the stickers I had already made
previously on Photoshop, having two colour
options since we were still unsure of which colour scheme
we should go with.

discussion.

Week 6
For week 6, we just had to finalise everything,
so Aidi delegated some tasks amongst us,
making sure that we all had equal parts to do.

My part was just to convert the ideas I had in my sketches into mockups using the
designs Aidi drew. Aidi created a Google Drive where we could
access the sketches and
also
where we can upload our finished work.

REFLECTION
Experience: During this process, my group looked at different ideas and eventually decided to focus on improving Good Vibes Festival's experience. Miss Anis' feedback helped us make this decision, as it gave us more opportunities to be creative. This direction allowed us to work together and develop a strong concept. As we researched and explored this idea, it really opened my eyes to how much potential there is to make festivals even better. I became more confident in our ability to create something unique and exciting. The more we learned, the more I realized how much room there is for innovation and improvement in festival experiences. This process made me feel more motivated and inspired to contribute to our project.
Observation: During my observation, I noted that Good Vibes Festival has potential for improvement compared to other festivals in Malaysia. As a graphic designer, I observed that refining its visual identity could enhance its appeal. A more distinctive logo and cohesive visual elements could help it stand out. Additionally, incorporating curated activities and sustainable practices could elevate the overall experience. These observations highlight areas where design can play a crucial role in enhancing the festival's impact.
Findings: This process has been both difficult and enlightening, encouraging me and my group members to think beyond traditional festival ideas. By studying the competition and what our target audiences expects, we've gained a better understanding of what makes a festival unique.

REFLECTION TEAM MEMBER'S CONTRIBUTION
Aidi: Aidi played a big part in our group as the leader, ensuring that everything ran smoothly while also contributing significantly to the creative aspect since he was the one that came up with most of the designs we used in our final brand guidelines of Good Vibes Festival. He also made sure to look at our designs, offering suggestions for improvements and pushing us to refine our ideas before finalising it. His leadership and eye for detail played a huge role in the success of our project.
Aliah: Aliah is a key member to our group besides Aidi, when we're getting feedback on our work, she makes sure to write it down in her notes, making sure that we don't miss anything out as we're doing our improvements. Her ability to keep track of details and help refine our ideas strengthened our overall execution and ensured our work was polished and well-developed.
Ameely: Ameely's ability to receive feedback helped strengthen our project, she took critiques positively and continuously refined her ideas and designs based on it, ensuring that our branding stuck to our theme and remained innovative while also standing out from the other festivals in Malaysia. Her willingness to adapt and improve allowed us to push creative boundaries, making sure our visual identity felt fresh and engaging. She remained open-minded throughout the process, always looking for ways to enhance our work without compromising the festival’s core message.

FEEDBACK
Week 1
After getting feedback from Ms. Anis, we realised that our
bread company idea feels generic. Therefore, to stand out, we
could innovate sustainable gluten-free packaging, enhancing
freshness and accessibility. However, my teammates and I were
unsure if we can fully develop this concept. So finally, we
decided to progress further on rebranding good vibes festival
Week 2
Through feedback from Ms. Anis, we realised that without
innovation, festivals risk becoming repetitive and with strong
competition in Malaysia, Good Vibes Festival must
differentiate itself to stay relevant.
Week 3 to 4
Ms. Vitiyaa's feedback was to provide sketches in order to
proof how we can improve good vibes festival.
Week 5
Since all of us just had sketches, we proceeded to show that
to Ms. Anis and since Aidi had already sketched out some
designs to use in his mockups, Ms. Anis adviced us to use
whatever Aidi had sketch and use that in all our mockups, to
make sure all our designs stay consistent.
Week 6
Ms. Anis adviced us to think from the buyers' perspective, would they be interested in buying our merch? And from her advice, we proceeded to rework our mockups.
Week 6
Ms. Vitiyaa instructed us to provide our logo process and insert it into our slides, she also told us to make the glow in the dark of the shirts more obvious.
