INSTRUCTIONS

PROJECT 3

In this project, we are required to create five (5) merchandise items, including a POP
(Point-of-Purchase) display, based on the brand and packaging developed in Project 2.
The aim is to strengthen our skills in designing merchandise that accurately reflects the
             brand’s identity and visual language.

To begin, we will conduct thorough research and analysis of the brand’s values, target
audience, and packaging aesthetics to ensure our designs are consistent and
meaningful. Using these insights, we will develop five original and creative
merchandise concepts that align with the brand’s message and appeal to the intended
audience. In the design and production phase, we will create digital mock-ups of all five
items, making sure they are visually appealing and cohesive with the overall brand
             identity.

Additionally, we will develop a comprehensive promotional strategy to increase brand
awareness and drive sales, using suitable platforms and tactics tailored to the brand
and its market. Our work will be assessed based on creativity, originality, visual design
and how effectively the merchandise communicates the brand’s core values.

Merchandise & Promotional Strategy

First, we decided on all 5 of the merchandise items we wanted to be included with the
DYO classic bottle: carry strap, sticker pack, silicon bottle boot and booth. We then
             divided the tasks by voting.

             - Sticker Pack : Ameely
             - Silicon Bottle Booth : Aliah
             - Card : Andrea
             - Booth : Aidi

After receiving feedback from Mr. Shamsul, he then told us that we needed a theme for
our merchandising and promotional strategy. Therefore, we came up with 3 different
             ideas and themes for it.

             Merchandising Themes
             - Cottage Core
             - Dreamcore Light
             - Forest Spirit

We decided to go with Forest Spirit because it was the most gender-neutral option
among the concepts. It felt versatile and inclusive, allowing us to appeal to a wider
audience without leaning too heavily toward a specific gender. The theme also aligned
well with the brand’s calm, natural and customizable identity, making it a fitting choice
             for our merchandise direction.

This was my first draft of the card, but I decided to scrap it because I realized I hadn’t
incorporated any of the visual elements from the moodboard. It felt disconnected from
the overall brand direction and didn’t reflect the aesthetic or mood we had established
             earlier.

This time, I incorporated the graphical elements we had in the moodboard and also
changed the colour scheme to match Aidi's and Aliah's designs. The final draft looked
much more refined and sophisticated to me, and it aligned better with the aesthetic we
were aiming for as a team.

Merchandise After Consultation (Card)

Mr. Shamsul had advised us to stay consistent with the graphical elements and told us
to use the one that Ameely and Aliah had already incorporated into their designs. I
listened to his feedback and started thinking of ways i could incorporate it into my
designs but also still making it look classy at the same time.

I also decided to change the color scheme to ensure it matched the rest of the team’s
designs, creating a more unified and professional appearance across all our designs.

REFLECTIONS

Experience: Project 3 gave me the opportunity to explore different aspects of branding and merchandise design while working closely with my team. It was a great learning experience, especially in terms of applying feedback, collaborating with others and making sure all our designs felt cohesive. From developing the concept to refining the final product, I learned how important it is to stay consistent with the brand identity and work as a team.

Observations: I noticed that staying aligned with the team’s visual direction, such as the color scheme and graphical elements really helped our designs come together as a whole. Mr. Shamsul’s feedback played a key role in guiding our decisions, especially when it came to consistency and refinement. I also realized that small changes, like adjusting the layout elements, can make a big difference in how polished the final design looks.

Findings: Throughout this project, I found that being flexible and open to feedback leads to better outcomes. I also learned that consistency across team members’ designs is essential in building a strong and professional brand image. Making sure my work complemented Aidi’s, Aliah’s, and Ameely’s designs helped us present a unified concept that felt complete and well thought out.
